Cathay Pacific

PO4500274083 - Ground power unit (gpu) system relocation project

🚀 GPU System Relocation Successfully Delivered at

Cathay City

We are proud to announce the successful completion of the GPU System Relocation Project for Cathay Pacific at Cathay City.

Our team at Reliable Airport Associates Limited (RAAL) relocated four GPU systems from the North FG Room to the North AHU Room (3/F). This strategic move optimises space utilisation while ensuring uninterrupted, reliable 400Hz power supply to the Galley Rooms 307, 309 & 311 and the A350 / A330 / B777 mockup cabins.

Project highlights:

  • Installation of new 185mm² main power cables and dedicated MCCB/MCB distribution boards

  • Comprehensive new cable containment and routing through congested ceiling spaces

  • Detailed power load analysis and phased changeover for all mockup cabins and galley equipment

  • Full testing & commissioning, WR1 certification, and GPU framework support calculations endorsed by Registered Structural Engineer (RSE)

  • Complete removal of redundant cabling and containment after migration

  • All works executed during permitted hours with strict compliance to Cathay Pacific House Rules and the Hong Kong Electrical Installation Code

The project demanded meticulous planning, precise coordination, and careful execution in a live operational environment. We are grateful to the Cathay Pacific team for their close collaboration throughout the delivery.

This project further demonstrates RAAL’s capability in delivering complex ground power and electrical infrastructure solutions for aviation training and operational facilities.
